Start with the full ingredient list
A product name can set a mood, but the ingredient list tells the fuller story. Rooted lists the ingredients used in each bar so that you can see the oils, butters, clays and essential oils before you order.
Every Rooted soap begins with a considered blend of oils and butters. Olive oil, coconut oil and shea butter are used across the range, while each bar has its own additional ingredients and character.
Why oils, butters and clays are used
Olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter and castor oil are traditional soap-making ingredients. They each contribute to the feel, lather and structure of a finished bar. Cocoa butter is included in the Cocoa-Rose Geranium Soap, while sweet almond oil is included in the Ylang Tea-Tree Soap.
Rooted also uses clays and activated charcoal to give certain bars their natural colour and texture. The Ylang Tea-Tree Soap includes activated charcoal, bentonite clay and green kaolin clay. The Cocoa-Rose Geranium Soap includes bentonite clay and red kaolin clay. The Shea-Olive Soap keeps the formula especially simple with bentonite clay.
Fragrance is a personal choice
The Ylang Tea-Tree Soap has tea tree, lemongrass and ylang ylang essential oils for a fresh, herbaceous scent. The Cocoa-Rose Geranium Soap has geranium, sandalwood and rose blend essential oils for a soft floral scent. The Shea-Olive Soap is unscented.
If you know that fragrance is not right for you, or you simply prefer a scent-free bar, the Shea-Olive Soap is the clearest starting point. When you have a known allergy or persistent skin concern, check the full ingredient list and speak with a qualified healthcare professional before use.
